To say that Chance has been bananas lately would be an understatement. I swear since he turned 3 he's just plain out bonkers. He has so much energy and is constantly running amuck, yelling, swinging, flailing about...oh and not to mention the hitting and pushing that has accompanied this. I've started to really wonder if something isn't wrong with him...I mean really...is this normal? I had had enough one day and just went a little bonkers myself. I was telling him that something was wrong and asking why he was so naughty and if something was in his head 'telling' him to do bad things. BIG MISTAKE. Now every time he is naughty he says, "I don't want to do it, but something is in my head telling me to."
I think his sitter thought he must have been schizophrenic when he said that to her until I explained that I'm the genius parent that planted that seed in his head. Thankfully, she is the cream of the crop as far as sitters (and people for that matter) go and takes all of Chancey's antics in stride. As opposed to me on the other hand who just freaks out.
Anyway, the consensus that I've heard from more experienced mothers of boys is that it's normal. I sure hope so. I don't want to have the naughty kid in town.

It's totally normal. In fact, every time Colin has a birthday, his behavior changes a bit. Right around when he turned 3, he started with these awful tantrums in the carseat, refusing to get in. I have no idea why and it ended up just being a phase. I'm sure that's all it is with Chance, just a phase. Hopefully a short one, for your sake. ;0)
Each of us has had the naughty kid in town at some point. Part of what can be hard is when you parent a kid with a totally different temperemant than you (it can also be tricky to parent a child with the same type). Oh, parenting is just hard. (but worth it).
Oh, I've told Luke that we don't really deal with the "terrible twos", but when our kids turn three, WOW, it's another story. And yes, more for boys, but Eliza was most challenging as a three-year-old, too. And now she's great! I'll let you know when Sam mellows out....
