Chancey Bug turns 3...and other news.
First things first. There are tons of Chancey pics, so I should probably say some things about Sophie first. She's progressing so much lately it seems. She's so busy crawling, pulling herself up on everything, standing, eating real food...and trying to feed herself already with a spoon, etc that it's hard to keep up. My baby is almost 1. I can't believe it. She already has a favorite blanket (striped fleece one), favorite toy (cardboard sox game), favorite food (yogurt) and favorite person (mom) -- although Chance seems to be a close second despite his attempts hurt her recently. I found him pulling her across the room the other day by her foot while she was sprawled out on her back. He also keeps bumping her on the head with the door. He says that he doesn't want her to get out of the room and so he'll try to lock her in so she will play with him and then he opens the door on her face. Not so pleasant.
Anyway, Sophie has become quite the mama's girl lately. She still does great with other people if she can't see me, but if I'm in the room, she definitely wants me. Not sure how I feel about this.
Dad still has the magic touch at getting her to fall asleep.
We didn't do much over Spring Break but we did manage to make it to Pirate Island Pizza once. Chance had a great time.
Except that that darn hat was too big.
Chance loves being like his dad. Look closely and you'll see a nail hanging out of Chancey's mouth. Just like his dad does when he's working on manly house projects. Not sure how safe that is but charming all the same.
Jeff teaching the Chance how to scare the ducks away.
We have started a new family tradition. Chocolate Fountain Sunday. A few years ago Jeff's mom gave us all chocolate fountains. We haven't made good use of it until recently. We have to strip Chance down to his skivvies since it's so messy. But it's worth it. He just lights up when we do this.
Ok...now for Chancey's Birthday. He woke up to his "morning" gift which was this cool reversible Batman/Superman cape.
Then he watched mom make his Batman cake. Jeff free-handed the stencil for the Batman symbol. Not too shabby.
Then we went to lunch at Tucanos since we had a "Free Meal" coupon. This is pretty much how Jeff runs his life...on the iPhone. Definitely gets buggy at times.
They sang to Chance and gave him free ice cream. He was in heaven.
Then we met up with Gigi and her kids at Jumpin Jacks. He, his cousins and Jeff wore themselves out at that place.
Then finally...we had just a small get together at our house. The weather was nice so we just did the cake/ice cream in our back yard and Chance got to open more presents of course.
One of Chancey's favorite presents was the Batman backpack that his Aunt Kelli gave to him. He's been dragging it to Linda's everyday.
Later, Grandma Jaylene and Grandpa Jack came over for more presents. One of their gifts was these goggles...which Chance keeps calling gobbles for some reason. It was definitely a busy day. We were exhausted! Finally around 9pm Chance was practically in tears and said, "mom...I'm so tired, please let me go to bed." I just love this kiddo.
Chance cracks us up. This story was hilarious. I've been watching too much Oprah lately about molesters and freaking myself out. So...I've been having the "molester" talk with Chance lately. You know..."no one should touch your privates, tell mom or dad if they do, etc". So last week at church, Jeff and I were in Sunday School while Chance was in nursery. Our good friend, Casey was in there with his son also and struck up a conversation with Chance. It went something like this:
Casey: Hey Chance, how are you?
Chance: Hi Casey.
Casey: Chance, how do you remember my name?
Chance: Casey, my mom said you can't touch my penis and if you do I should tell her.
In front of all the nursery leaders. Our poor friend about died. He texted us in SS and told us. Of course we didn't believe him at first, but he swore he was dead honest and that he was bright red and pretty much the most embarrassed he'd ever been. There's more to the story, but that's the crux of it. I had to go in and clear Casey's name afterwards. Chance has also been announcing this to the other kids at daycare. I just hope they don't go telling their parents about the weird things he's been saying. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry but it is embarrassing.
One last thing. Unless you live under a rock, you've probably heard that I made my goal...I lost the 20 POUNDS that I set out to back in January. I did it the old fashioned way too. Diet and exercise. Mostly diet. I can only attribute the last few pounds to my recent Zumba classes. I've been doing them 3x/week for the last 3 weeks and it helped me get the last 3 pounds off. 3 must be my magic number.
I do feel better I must say but the sad thing is that I still could stand to lose 10 more pounds. I'm still just barely in the "normal" range. Here's to hoping I can lose a few more. Mostly I just need to tone up arms, stomach, etc. But...I must say I am very proud of myself. It was hard work!

That is great that you taught Chance so well :). You look great Amanda, and Jeff sure does love those red sweats :)
That story about Chance in nursery is hilarious! At least you know he is listening!
And congrats with the weight loss. I'm just about to have my third and really not looking forward to trying to lose the baby weight.
happy birthday chance! love all the pictures!! sophie is so cute, she has so much hair! glad to see you guys are doing well!
I love that picture of Sophie asleep on the couch with her mouth open, so cute! And I'm with Kara about Jeff's red sweat pants! :0) That's awesome about the weight Guggs! I've thought about trying Zumba, but I'm so uncoordinated, I'll just stick with my step class. You look great!
congrats congrats! you look great amanda. your kids are so cute. i think we are all freaked out by the TV- do not watch criminal minds, you wont be able to sleep. Kids are hilarious though. when you aren't working call me so we can hang out already
First, congrats to you on your goal. That is wonderful. Really inspiring to this momma who should set a similar goal before I loose it and hurt myself mentally or physically. Second, Happy Birthday to Chance!!! Three is a cool age (as long as my kids are not turning that old--ever). Thirdly, Chance and Sophie are adorable, but you all know that. Fourth, we talk about bodies and how you get to chose what happens to your body and other people get to choose what happens to their bodies (originated from the molester scare and from Lola trying to carry Poppy everywhere). Anyway, the other day we had friends over and Lola was playing with Tony and told him. "Tony, it is my body. I get to choose. You don't touch it. Don't touch my crotch." Yep, he was pretty embarrassed/petrified to be around her afterwards. I agree, better safe than sorry.
Oh you guys don't even know about those stupid red sweatpants. If I could burn them I would. My only hope is that with summer around the corner, he'll be too hot to wear them.
