Life Lately

I know you all are ready for some pictures finally...because you all just sit around waiting for MY blog entries, right?? Just kidding. But seriously, it's been a while and with the start of Spring Break tomorrow, I have no excuse to procrastinate any longer. So here is a long one...

We spent last night with some good friends of ours, The Watt's since they will be moving to Tennesee soon :( We decided to go to Jump On It since Chance loved it so much last time. Jeff was such a trooper and wore himself out climbing around with Chance. This is Chance and his "friend" Gavin that he met there. Gavin was a sweet boy who just wanted to follow Jeff and Chance around.

Chance being so brave!

Gavin helped teach Chance how to climb up the slide all by himself. It seriously took FOREVER, but I love when Chance feels so accomplished. He was really proud of himself.

We spent Easter with both Jeff's family and mine. Also, since Chancey's Birthday is on the 20th, we celebrated along with other cousins who have April Birthdays. Chance loved opening his presents!
Here's my preggo belly for those of you that don't get to see it enough! And Braden helping Chance open his presents.

Chance patiently waiting with his cousins to open Grandma Jay's Easter presents.

Good thing Chance has Grandma's and Aunt's to spoil him with candy because I'm not so nice in that department.

Picking up eggs...and finding candy.

Proof that Chance has moved into his toddler bed and that it has been successful! Well, mostly. We had a rough day on Saturday getting him to nap in the bed, but I can't really blame him. He had fallen asleep on the couch and I tried to move him to the bed and then he just freaked out. BUT...Sunday nap went great...as you can tell. So far, he's been staying in bed at night and done pretty good in the mornings just getting up and calling our name or playing for a bit by himself. We still block him in with the gate though...

A few weeks ago we took Chance to a little kid play they had down on Center Street. It was called, 'Go, Dog, Go' after the Dr. Seuss book and is geared specifically for toddlers. He LOVED it. He actually sat and watched it for 40 minutes straight.

I recently introduced Chance to pudding for the first time. To say he loves it would be an understatement.

Had to get EVERY last lick he could!

Chance has just been growing like a weed. He talks so much and says the cutest things. It funny that since I work with special ed preschoolers who struggle with communication, I find myself thinking Chance is some sort of genius just for doing things he should be anyway. Like the fact that he says 4 word sentences now. Totally developmentally normal, but when you work with kiddos that can't even talk, you start to think you have the most brilliant kid on the planet!

One of the cutest things Chance says is the word "maggot". Sounds gross...until you learn that he's actually referring to Maddox...a little boy he goes to daycare with. He just can't say Maddox and instead, everyday waves goodbye and says, "Bye Maggot" over and over again.

Here are a few pics I threw in of Jeff being manly. As you all know we're slowly redoing our house. We've started to tackle the bathroom a bit and here's the proof.

Jeff and...well, let's be honest...MOSTLY Sid installing our new shower wall surround. We could NOT have done it without his help. Sid has been so great to help out when we need him. LOVE having a plumber in the family.

This one Jeff totally did on his own...install an exhaust fan in the bathroom. He had to saw into the ceiling. I have to just close my eyes and trust him when he does this. He pretty much just learns as he goes and I appreciate when he tries. It always turns out great, but stresses me out in the meantime.

Other than that, just trying to prepare for when Sophie comes. She's doing great so far and I'm just hanging in there.

Bedtime Update

For all those interested...Chance did great through the night. He stayed in bed the whole night. I heard him whimper some around 5:45 am, but he went back to sleep on his own. I think he heard Jeff leave though at 6:45 (for the gym...yes, I did say that Jeff is going to the gym these days) and then he woke up and stood at the gate crying. But I went in and showed him his toys and that he could play with them while "mommy takes a shower" and he was fine.

Tonight was the same. He's so good. How did I luck out with such a good boy. We'll see how the morning goes. I'm stressed about nap time though. I don't think we'll have as much success then. I just wonder how long before he realizes the freedom he has and decides to take full advantage...

It finally happened...

My baby is in a big-boy bed. He did so good tonight. He honestly just laid there as if he were in his crib. He did the usual routine, kick around, chit-chat to himself, etc. But then...he just went to sleep. He didn't cry, get out of bed, turn on the light, etc. We will have to see how the morning goes though. It might be rough since he's used to just playing in his crib for 30-45 minutes before we get him out. Hmmm, I will let you know. I would have taken a picture, but I didn't want the flash to wake him up and spoil the progress. Let's hope it isn't just a fluke for the first night. Keep your fingers crossed...
